ֱ’s Jupiter Lifelong Learning Society and the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College will present a lecture by award-winning author Edwidge Danticat on Monday, Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. in the Lifelong Learning Society complex at FAU’s John D. MacArthur Campus, 5353 Parkside Dr., in Jupiter.
“Then and Now: An Afternoon with Edwidge Danticat,” will include a discussion about her writing career and special topics that drove her writings and current books.
Danticat was born in Port-au-Prince Haiti and moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. at the age of 12. As an immigrant, Danticat’s disorientation in her new surroundings was a source of discomfort for her, and she turned to literature for solace. She is the author of numerous books, including “Claire of the Sea Light,” a New York Times notable book; “Brother, I’m Dying,” a National Book Critics Circle Award winner and National Book Award finalist; “Breath, Eyes, Memory,” an Oprah Book Club selection; and “Krik? Krak!” a National Book Award finalist.
