As part of ·¬ĒŃÖ±²„ā€™s ongoing commitment to campus safety, FAUā€™s Police Department is launching ā€œ·¬ĒŃÖ±²„Guardian,ā€ a free mobile app that turns any smartphone into a personal safety device. The app is a product of Rave Mobile Safety, a software company developing new technologies in public safety, and is available to students, faculty, and staff with a valid ·¬ĒŃÖ±²„email address.

ā€œThe safety of our students, faculty, and staff continues to be our top priority,ā€ said Sean Brammer, interim police chief of FAUā€™s Police Department. ā€œThis app is like having an emergency blue light at your fingertips, and we encourage the ·¬ĒŃÖ±²„community to download it.ā€

With ā€œ·¬ĒŃÖ±²„Guardian,ā€ users can create a profile about themselves and invite family and friends to join their safety network. When needed, the user can request one or more of their ā€œguardiansā€ to virtually walk with them on or off campus. If the user doesnā€™t make it to his or her destination on time, the ā€œguardiansā€ will be alerted.

Another feature of the app is a panic button, which allows users to contact campus police immediately and shows police their current location. If users see something suspicious on campus, they can also use the app to send anonymous text messages and photos to police.
