ֱ’s Adams Center for Entrepreneurship will host “HatchPad Engage! Boca Raton” on Wednesday, Nov. 16 from 4 to 6 p.m., in room BU 120 at FAU’s College of Business, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus.

Speakers include:

  • Jeff Nadel, CEO and co-founder of Klink: A 23-year-old entrepreneur, Nadel put college on hold (Wharton) to focus on building the leading app to order spirits, beer and wine, anytime, anywhere. He will share the pivots he and his co-founding team had to make and the pros and cons of raising venture capital.
  • Barry Stamos, CEO and founder of Videoo: An established entrepreneur with one unicorn (private start-up valued at more than $1 billion) under his belt, Stamos will talk about his successes with his past startups and his current experience with his latest, Videoo. No matter how successful someone was in the past, each new startup presents unique and similar challenges. He also offers a unique perspective having moved from Silicon Valley to the Miami area and the opportunities and challenges that has raised when it comes to funding a company and finding top-tier talent.

“HatchPad Engage!” is a series of networking events specifically geared for high school and college (undergraduate and graduate) level entrepreneurs. Understanding that the learning curve and challenges that students face when figuring out how to start, launch, fund and grow a business are inherently different than someone who has been in the workforce, “HatchPad Engage!” has a mission to help provide the resources and tools young entrepreneurs need to be successful.

Each “Engage!” event is organized to allow students to build their network, learn from the pros, and develop pitching skills, including:

Networking: Each event is opened up with a half-hour opportunity to shake hands, trade business cards and build networks.

  • Speakers: The speaker lineup offers a mix of experienced and first-time entrepreneurs to give the audience a macro-perspective of the ins and outs of entrepreneurship, lessons learned and what one doesn’t know until they hear it from someone else.
  • Fast Pitch Shoot Out: An opportunity for select student-entrepreneurs to pitch their business in 90 seconds to the audience. The audience votes and the winner receives a $250 gift card.
