FAU’s Schools Receives U.S. Department of Education Grant
ֱ Schools (FAUS) recently received the Javits Gifted and Talented Students Education Program Grant to study, enhance and replicate FAUS’ highly successful early college model. The grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Education and was presented by during a visit to at FAU’s Boca Raton campus.
“We are honored to receive the Jacob K. Javits Gifted and Talented Students Education Program federal grant,” said. “It will go a long way to enhancing and replicating the amazing model we’ve built for students at ֱ Schools.”
The grant comes from the Department of Education’s Javits Gifted and Talented Students Education Program, which supports programs that help gifted and talented K-12 students from underrepresented groups, including those from economically disadvantaged families, limited English language proficiency, and students with disabilities excel in gifted programs at their schools.
“I’m proud of the incredible work by our hometown university,” said Deutch. “ֱis an active member of the community, and this grant acknowledges their successes in preparing our students for higher-education opportunities and successful careers.”
The grant is worth $2.24 million over five years and will serve to enhance and replicate the model at ֱHigh School and A.D. Henderson University School. Specifically, FAU’s early college model that offers holistic support through advising, mentoring, and professional development based on culturally responsive teaching and social-emotional learning.
“We are fortunate to have received the Jacob K. Javits Gifted and Talented Students Education Program federal grant,” said , dean of the ֱCollege of Education. “This recognition validates the hard work of our faculty and staff. Grants like this have enabled our school district to continue to develop and provide an educational platform that will continue to impact our student body as well as serve as an example for other schools.”
