ֱAttracts Record Number of National Merit Scholars
ֱ has welcomed a record number of National Merit Scholars for the fall 2019 semester. A total of 35 National Merit Scholars are enrolled this semester and 11 of those finalists will join the at FAU'sin Jupiter.
“We are pleased to welcome this outstanding group of students,” said Debbi Johnson-Rais, Ed.D., director of the ֱScholars Program. “ֱ considers it a privilege to offer National Merit scholars a wealth of tailored experiences and opportunities that include top-notch programming and support services, as well as exceptional research opportunities.

To become a National Merit finalist, each semifinalist had to submit a detailed scholarship application, which includes their academic record, extracurricular activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment history, honors and awards. They also had to be endorsed by a high school official, submit an essay and perform well on the SAT.
The number of National Merit Scholars has increased every year since the fall 2015 semester. Last year, ֱhad 22 National Merit Scholars enrolled for the fall 2018 semester.
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) is a not-for-profit organization that identifies and honors academically talented U.S. high school students.
