Paul Metcalf, Ph.D., associate director of alumni relations at FAU, received the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce’s 2015 Chairman’s Award today. The award is presented in recognition of an individual’s service to help provide positive, progressive growth for Boca Raton.

“The Chairman’s Award is a prestigious honor presented to an individual that has made a significant contribution to the Boca Raton community,” said Randy B. Nobles, chairman of the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce. “Paul has given tirelessly to the Boca Chamber as well as our community and we are grateful for his commitment.”

Metcalf, a two-time alumnus of FAU, was recruited to serve on the Chamber’s PULSE (Professionals United for Leadership, Service and Empowerment) steering committee in 2011, which has become the go-to organization for motivated professionals under the age of 40. The committee includes a select group of leaders who develop programming and increase visibility for the PULSE organization.

The ֱ Alumni Association (FAUAA) has been the program sponsor for PULSE since 2012, providing complimentary access for FAUAA members to attend many annual PULSE events, including afterhours networking functions and business luncheons featuring prominent speakers. Metcalf became the chair of the PULSE committee in 2012 and currently is serving his second term, which will end later this month.

“It has been a pleasure working with the Chamber on its many initiatives aimed at engaging major community players in a thoughtful, strategic manner that promote synergy among business, education and healthcare to ensure Boca Raton’s prosperity now and in the future,” said Metcalf. “PULSE is just another vehicle to assist in these efforts, and serves in cultivating the next generation of leadership in this great community. I am extremely humbled to receive the Chairman’s Leadership Award and would like to thank Troy McLellan and the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce for all of their tireless contributions toward elevating the stature of our city.”
