The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at ֱ in Jupiter will present a one-man show by Clifton Truman Daniel, an author and the grandson of former U.S. President Harry S. Truman, on Friday, Jan.11, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute complex at FAU’s John D. MacArthur Campus, 5353 Parkside Dr., in Jupiter.

“Give ‘Em Hell, Harry!” by Samuel Gallu is a play about President Truman’s life and presidency. It spans his childhood, his “political apprenticeship” as a judge in Jackson County, Missouri, his years in the U.S. Senate and his two terms as president. The one-man show captures some of Truman’s momentous decisions, such the atomic bombings, the Korean War, the firing of U.S. Gen. Douglas MacArthur, and the recognition of Israel. Actor James Whitmore originated the role in 1975. Daniel took up the mantle in October 2017, marking the first time in history a U.S. president would be portrayed on-stage by a direct descendant.

Daniel is the honorary chairman of the board of the Truman Library Institute, the nonprofit partner of the Truman Presidential Library and Museum in Independence, Missouri, and board secretary for the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation. He is the author of “Growing Up With My Grandfather: Memories of Harry S. Truman” and “Dear Harry, Love Bess: Bess Truman’s Letters to Harry Truman, 1919–1943.”

Tickets are $30 for members and $40 for non-members. The performance is generously sponsored by YourLife™ Senior Living.  For more information, contact the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at 561-799-8547 or visit www.fau.edu/osherjupiter.
