Osher LLI at ֱJupiter Presents Lien-Hang Nguyen, Ph.D.


The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute atֱ in Jupiter will present a lecture by Lien-Hang Nguyen, Ph.D., the Dorothy Borg Associate Professor in the History of the United States and East Asia at Columbia University, on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 2:30 p.m. in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute complex at FAU’s John D. MacArthur Campus, 5353 Parkside Dr., in Jupiter.

Nguyen’s lecture, “Toward a New History of the Tet Offensive: Spies, Allies and Murder in Hanoi,” examines the 1968 Tet Offensive including the origins of the event and how the Tet strategy deliberation in Hanoi revealed how North Vietnam’s foreign relations and domestic politics contributed to the planning for the communist offensive. Nguyen specializes in the Vietnam War, U.S. Southeast Asian relations and the global Cold War at Columbia University. She is currently working on a comprehensive history of the 1968 Tet Offensive.
