ֱ’s John D. MacArthur Campus will host its second annual “Owl Games” fundraising event on Saturday, Feb. 6 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Student Resources building (SR), 5353 Parkside Dr., in Jupiter. Registered gamers will compete in the popular multiplayer videogame, “League of Legends,” to benefit the nonprofit organization Canine Companions for Independence (CCI). Registrants also can participate in other group games during the tournament. Several prizes will be awarded throughout the event, including a grand prize for the tournament champion.

“The Owl Games isn’t just about gaming,” said Kirk Main, computer support specialist in FAU’s Office of Information Technology and event organizer. “Canine Companions for Independence is an organization that has helped my family a great deal. My brother has a Canine Companion service dog, Tash, and we couldn’t imagine life without him. I’m truly honored to help support this amazing organization.”

Main launched the event in October 2014 as a student in the ֱHarriet L. Wilkes Honors College. All proceeds will benefit CCI, which was founded in 1975 and enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships.

Alienware, the lead sponsor of Owl Games, is providing 120 computers. Lunch will be donated by Jersey Mikes and Pancheros Mexican Grill.

Virtual participation is also available. Registration is free, however, donations of $5 for ֱemployees and students/$10 for non-employees to CCI are required. For more information and to register, visit www.fau.edu/tog or contact Kirk Main at 561-430-8566 or kmain4@fau.edu.
